July 20, 2020

Dear Sandia Baptist Church,

Greetings to you, my beloved friends! I hope you are well and thriving with the Lord. He is so good to us all year, every year. I wanted to reach out and keep you in the loop as to where we are and what we know at this point about the immediate future.

Schedule Updates:

Our current weekly schedule remains the same until the governor allows churches to meet at 50% occupancy:

Sunday – 9 am and 10:30 am worship services.

Wednesday – 6 pm Bible study and prayer. Also, our student ministry meets at 6 pm.

Reminder Regarding Viewing Room for Vulnerable Individuals – The “Big Room” in the Children’s Building is open each week at 10:30am for live viewing of the worship service. Every possible precaution has been taken to make this room as safe as we are able. The double glass doors on the west end of the building (Moon Street) are unlocked so you can have direct access to this viewing room.

Connection classes: Some are meeting online, others are meeting in-person, and some are using a combination. Some are meeting on Sunday and some on other days of the week. Thanks for your creativity during this time.

As soon as the governor allows churches to meet at 50% capacity, we will begin putting a plan in place to implement our Sunday morning Connection Classes on campus again. As we do so, the future schedule might look similar to this:

8:30 am – Worship 1

9:45 am – Connection Classes

11 am – Worship 2

Why? As you probably know, when we were meeting pre-COVID, our parking lot was nearly full during the worship hour (great problem!). Our parking lot was slightly better during the Bible study hour. If we continue to offer two worship service slots and if one or more classes decide to meet at a time other than 9:45 am (noon? A different day?), we will be allowed a temporary room in our parking lot to grow. I am so thankful for your flexibility during the COVID season and I thank you in advance for your flexibility after this season so that we might reach more people for Christ. There are many good churches in Albuquerque. Sandia Baptist Church has a uniqueness that we believe needs to be able to grow. Your flexibility in these times will help facilitate this growth. Thanks!

Along with everyone else, we are constantly in need of looking ahead at events requiring multiple months of planning. In light of this, we are forced to cancel this year’s Craft Fair, the Harvest Festival, and the churchwide campout.

Business Meeting:

Our July business meeting will not take place. We are not sure when we will be able to conduct a business meeting. We do not want to offer a business meeting that puts pressure on folks to attend who are not yet comfortable doing so. We have included the latest quarterly financial statement with this letter.

The Fall:

As I mentioned above, we are waiting to hear the governor expand the capacity limits on churches before we begin planning the fall. While we would love to be able to offer a meal, AWANA, choir, etc., we can’t know yet. Thank you for your prayers and patience.

One thing we can still do freely during this season is to pray! I am so thrilled at the response to our first 24-hour prayer ministry. The next date will be Thursday, July 23rd. If you signed up last month, you do not need to contact us. If you would like to be added to this prayer effort, contact the church office to sign-up for a time slot.

On Sunday, August 16, I will be explaining the next step in our prayer emphasis. I will be challenging you to “adopt pews” by becoming a Pew Prayer Partner. We will divide the pews by the number of prayer partners and then you will pray each week for the people who will occupy those pews. During the COVID season, this is a ministry you can do on campus or from home. More details to come.

The third step in our prayer focus will come this Fall. We will be opening our worship center all day on Wednesdays for you to come to pray as you wish. You might come to pray for 10 minutes or you might come to pray for an hour or more. More details to come.

Contribution Statements – the financial team has prepared 2020 6-month contribution statements if you would like one. You can pick yours up in person this Sunday, come by the office during the week, or contact the office if you would like to receive yours by mail.

Generosity: We thank God for your continued faithfulness to give the Biblical tithe (10%) and above as God leads. You can mail a check, give in person, have your bank (bill pay) send a check, or give online at

Worshipping Online: you may worship with us online Sundays at 10:30 am. You can either go to (even without a Facebook account)

Revelation: beginning Sunday, September 13, my plan is to begin preaching through all or part of the book of Revelation. Your lost friends and family may be interested because of our recent world events. This would be a great time to invite them to attend in person or online.

With much love and appreciation and with much anticipation of what God will do,

Ronny, Clark, Andy, and Aaron

May 14, 2020

Dear Sandia Baptist Church,

Greetings from your pastoral staff!! We pray you are doing well. We send our love to you!

We wanted to update you on our immediate plans as a church. As most of you are aware, the Governor announced yesterday that churches are allowed to now meet but at 10% of capacity. As you can imagine, this presents several challenges. The tentative plan the pastors worked on the past three weeks was turned on its head or at least postponed until the next phase. With that in mind, here is what you can expect at least until the governor moves us to the next phase of reopening.

Sunday mornings: we will continue to live stream the worship services on our YouTube page. Here is the link:

Hopefully, the governor will open us up more on May 31st, which would allow us to hold three live worship services on Sunday, June 7 (tentatively, 2 morning services, and 1 late afternoon service). More details to come.

Wednesday evening prayer meeting: Beginning Wednesday, May 27th, we will hold a weekly live prayer meeting in the worship center at 5 pm. This will also be live-streamed to our Facebook page. Our maximum number in the worship center will be 80 people. There will also be overflow stations in The Gathering, The Big Room, and the courtyard. If we exceed these numbers in attendance, we will hold two prayer meetings the following week.

Weekday noon Facebook Live video: Each weekday at noon (except Wednesday), we will post a live video. On Mondays, Pastor Ronny will be interviewing a ministry leader from Albuquerque and beyond, highlighting their exciting ministry. Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, one of the other staff pastors will lead you in a devotional.

We want to say a special word of thanks to you for your faithful giving during this time! How encouraging it is to see our giving growing even during this time when we are not meeting face to face! As of this writing, we are at 97% of our budget in giving! Wow. You can help us push that over the top. You can give online at and you can always mail in a check or send a check through the bill pay service on your bank’s website.

We love you all and are so proud of the way you are ministering to one another!

Ronny, Clark, Andy, Aaron

May 1, 2020 – Update!

Good afternoon! We are inching closer to seeing life open up again. Your pastors are praying and talking in attempts to make tentative plans for coming back together. It is a little like nailing jello to the wall since we don’t yet know dates or church attendance limitation numbers yet. We will be communicating with you as soon as possible with the plan details. Thanks so much for your prayers and flexibility!

In the meantime, keep checking on one another and thinking about outreach opportunities. You can download the “Letter for Your Neighbors” below, print as many copies as you need, and reach out again to your neighbors or to new neighbors.

Also, thank you so much for your efforts to continue with tithes and offerings during this time. I am praying our church will come out of this season ahead financially rather than behind. Thank you for helping make that happen!

I will “see” you Sunday on the live stream!

Pastor Ronny

Letter for Your Neighbors

March 25, 2020

Dear Church Family,

Good afternoon! I hope this finds you doing well this afternoon. Your pastors miss getting to see you regularly. However, God is at work and doing many things during this unusual time.

I wanted to keep you up-to-date on where things are for us as a church:

* We will continue to hold Sunday worship and Wednesday prayer meeting online at least until April 10.

* Sunday morning worship can be viewed at 10:30am at:

* Wednesday evening prayer meeting can be at viewed at 6pm at:

* Also, Pastor Ronny is teaching through Philippians every weekday at noon at:

* Please continue to pray for:

* Your pastors as they navigate this season,

* The support staff as they continue to work from home,

* Your deacons and Connection leaders and others as they reach out to care for our members,

* For God to use this virus for His glory!

* For Sandia and other churches to come out of this stronger than before.

God bless you all! Your pastors love you!

March 18, 2020

Dear Sandia Baptist Church Family,

“However, the Most High does not dwell in houses made by human hands . . .” Acts 7:48.

Wow! We are understanding this more in recent days! The building at Constitution and Moon is the building where the people who make up Sandia Baptist Church usually meet. The Coronavirus is temporarily changing that. In an effort to protect you, Sandia Baptist Church (that’s the people) will be meeting in new ways.

Wednesday, March 18 (tonight):

  • There will be no meal, live prayer meeting, choir rehearsal or any other events.
  • Pastor Ronny will be teaching a short devotional and leading in a “virtual” prayer time using Facebook Live – go to our Sandia Baptist Church Facebook page at 6pm tonight or watch later:

This Sunday, March 22:

  • No Connection Classes
  • 10:30am – The worship service will be live-streamed at – “watch” –  “live stream.”
  • We encourage you to protect yourself and others by worshipping at home or with other small groups of church members.

Daily Devotional and Prayer with Pastor Ronny on Facebook Live:

For the next while, Pastor Ronny will lead a short devotional and prayer Monday through Friday at 12pm (Mountain Time). You can watch live or later.

The “Everyman Conference” will be postponed. If you need a refund, give us a call. Otherwise, we will keep the roster of those who have paid for tickets, and will look forward to your participation when the event is re-scheduled.

If you are involved in a Bible study or ministry that is not churchwide, check with your leadership about meeting plans.

Now, more than ever, it is important to contact each other and love on each other.

  • You might choose to invite a few other church members over to worship with you while watching the live stream.
  • Some Connection Classes may choose to meet in a home and worship together using the live stream.
  • Be creative as you feel led. Stay home as you feel led.
  • Connection Classes might choose to create a Facebook group to keep up with each other and to even do a live Bible study.
  • Contact your Connection leaders and get a contact list for your class so you can pray for and contact one another.
  • Contact the church office and we will send you a membership directory by email so you can contact and love on others.
  • Pray for your pastors and other church leaders as we seek to navigate this ever-changing situation.
  • Give. The financial needs of the church remain the same whether or not we meet in person. You may give by:
    • Mailing your tithe to 9429 Constitution Avenue NE, ABQ 87112
    • Logging in to your bank online and setting up a check to be mailed from your bank
    • Giving by text by texting any amount (with or without the $) to 505-484-2713
    • You can give on the web at

Here are some resources for you for studying and learning at home:

We will update you as soon as anything changes. Thank you for your flexibility. God is using this in ways we could not have imagined! I am getting great reports from church members who are blessing their neighborhoods through praying and placing the attached flyers in their neighbors’ doors. Keep it up!

Much love from your pastors,

Ronny, Clark, Andy, and Aaron
